9 illustrations of German weapons. Tanks & SP guns: MkV 75mm “Panther” tank; 67 ton 88mm “Royal Tiger” tank; 14.5 inch armoured howitzer; 88mm “Ferdinand” self-propelled gun. Radio controlled “explosive” tanks. Long range railway gun. Amphibious assault troops – “Frogmen”. German mines. Anti tank rockets. “Nebelwerfer” 210mm rocket mortar and guns. The highly successful 88mm anti-aircraft and subsequently anti-tank gun. Washes, ink, bodycolour & pencil on Goodall’s art board. Stylised signature & date 1945. 23 x 19 ins

The artist

One of the finest exponents of the "cutaway" graphic illustrations of aircraft, ships, tanks and engineering of the 20th century. Davis was a staff artist for the "Graphic" and the "Sphere" & Chief Staff Artist of "The Illustrated London News.
